Whistler Creekside

Where it all began, the original base of Whistler Mountain and the FIRST Gondola to be installed in our awesome resort which started shuttling skiers up the hill back in January 1966. At the end of 2022, the installation of a new, high-speed, 10-person Gondola by Whistler Blackcomb was completed, making it another historic moment for Whistler. Creekside is 4.2km south of Whistler Village and is easily accessible by car or on the paved Valley Trial with everything from ski and bike park access to shops, accommodation, restaurants, lakes, gyms, and spas. This location has easily become a favourite amongst visitors and locals for many reasons year-round.

My first-time skiing in Whistler

I remember my first time EVER to Whistler Creekside, which was also my first day skiing in Whistler back in 1993… submerged in pure euphoria as I was ripping down runs, I found myself at the bottom of Whistler Creekside instead of the Village…Oops! So, I stuck out a thumb and patiently waited,  a kind man with a long white beard was the first person to pull over in his old, beat-up truck to offer me a ride back to Whistler Village… I knew this place was something special beyond the ski terrain in that moment, by the kindness extended from the community… I couldn’t help it, Whistler had me SOLD! Well, the rest is history, I packed my bags in 1998 to move and live here permanently, I never looked back! Not long after I met my beautiful Wife, had two wonderful children, and have become part of the community and lifestyle we love so much. Whistler you ROCK!!

Après in Whistler Creekside

Situated at the bottom on Creekside Gondola lays the rustic Dusty’s Bar & BBQ that opened in 1966, the same year Whistler Mountain opened. Featuring a sunny, large patio to watch skiers zip down the hill while enjoying mouth-watering food and drinks, try their delicious Caesar drink to combine both in one! If you need to warm up from the mountain, get cozy inside by the fireplace, or by the exterior outdoor fireplace on the upper deck.

I love skiing down to Dusty’s after a day on the slopes, the live Après scene here is sure to impress, dancing in my ski boots as I listen to some of my favourite local bands and artists, most recently The Hairfarmers. You’ll find locals, World Cup Ski Medalists, ninety-year-old ski bums and people from all over the world here! BUT seriously, no Coast Mountain Beer!? :O 😉

The best pizza in Whistler – Creekbread

The first of its very own to open in Whistler Creekside in British Columbia, just before the Winter Olympics in 2010. Famously known for its delicious choice of pizzas made on their homemade baked flatbreads. If you haven’t tried the ‘Creekbreads’ here, then you should!

Creekside, the heart and foundation of where everything started in Whistler! It’s growing Village with a new coffee shop called Rockit Coffee Co, and newly added artist space called ‘Art Pop‘ to admire or get creative at. Stay tuned to watch Creekside’s journey unfold from 1966!
